(FERMIN LEAL/FUTBOL DAILY) Javier Hernandez and Jesus Corona celebrate after scoring a goal during a Gold Cup game this summer.

Mexico has called up its European-based players as El Tri looks for a strong start in the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

The roster includes regulars Javier Hernandez, Miguel Layun, Hector Herrera, Andres Guardado and Hector Moreno. It also includes Carlos Vela, Marco Fabian and Jonathan Dos Santos, who have each made sporadic appearances in the national team over recent years.

L.A. Galaxy attacker Giovani Dos Santos is also on the roster, marking a return to competitive international play after he declined a roster spot during last summer’s Gold Cup.

Coach Juan Carlos Osorio said the roster was made up with a strong defensive theme in mind. Veteran Rafa Marquez will likely feature in both games, Osorio said.

Mexico will face the United States Nov. 11 in Columbus Ohio, and Panama on Nov. 15 in Panama City.
