After a disappointing loss to Atletico Madrid in this week’s Champion’s League quarterfinals, winning the treble is no longer in the cards for Barcelona.
Two tough losses to Real Madrid and Real Sociedad have also left Barca in jeopardy of letting their La Liga title slip away. But the team still can salvage the league crown and Copa del Rey title if it manages to turn around its poor play of late. To begin with, Leo Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez must find their scoring form. Messi, in particular has struggled mightily over the past couple weeks.
Next, the defense has to step up. Javier Mascherano and Gerard Pique have looked lost at times on the back line, while Jordi Alba and Dani Alves have been bested by attackers on too many occasions.
Barcelona next play Valencia on Sunday at Camp Nou.
