Colombia escaped a late charge from Paraguay to win 2-1 Tuesday at the Rose Bowl.
Carlos Bacca and James Rodriguez netted Colombia’s goals while Victor Ayala added a goal for Paraguay.
Colombia seemed to have the game comfortably in hand in the first half, taking the early 2-0 lead. But Paraguay came out as the more aggressive team in the second half. Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina made several incredible saves to keep his team ahead.
With the win, Colombia sits a lone atop of Group A with 6 points.
In the day’s first math, Team USA demolished Costa Rica 4-0 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Team USA now sits in second with 3 points. Paraguay and Costa Rica are tied at 1 point each.
