Brazil and Ecuador faced off in their opening game of the Copa America Centenario, with both teams failing to inspire as they tied 0-0 Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Both teams had very few chances to open the scoring, spending much of the match testing each others defenses.
Brazil could had used star attacker Neymar, who spent the game watching from the stands after being left off the Copa America squad so he could instead play in the upcoming Rio summer Olympics.
The tie leaves both teams in good shape to advance if they receive more positive results in upcoming group games against Haiti and Peru, two teams that Ecuador and Brazil should be favorites to defeat.
