Los Angeles Football Club scored three goals in the first 30 minutes against the Montreal Impact, including the league-leading 15th goal from Carlos Vela, as the team cruised to a convincing victory Friday at Banc of California Stadium.
The game ended 4-2, with LAFC extending its unbeaten streak to seven games. The team is now eight points clear at the top of the Western Conference.
LAFC attacker Christian Ramirez opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush’s clearance attempt bounced of LAFC Ramirez’ leg and into the Montreal goal.
Vela scored in the 28 minute after receiving a pass in stride into the Montreal penalty box. Vela slid his shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. Latif Blessing scored the third goal from a Diego Rossi cross just two minutes later.
Tristan Blackmon scored LAFC’s fourth goal early in the second have on a header from a corner kick. It was Blackmon’s first career MLS goal.
Montreal added two late goals to make the final result appear more respectable.
“Look, we feel good about the fact that we’re going in a good direction,” LAFC Coach Michael Bradley said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “But you can’t stop now. We’re not there yet. That’s the way we try to look at things.”
LAFC improved its record to 10-1-4. The team next travels to Oregon to play the Portland Timbers on Saturday.
