Diego Rossi’s two goals gave LAFC an early lead just eight minutes into Sunday’s game. But it wasn’t enough as the Vancouver Whitecaps erased the deficit to earn a tie.
LAFC controlled much of the game against the Whitecaps in its final regular season home game at the new Banc of California Stadium. But several missed chances throughout the game proved too much to overcome in the team’s effort to earn a win.
LAFC remains in second place in the Western Conference, tied with Dallas FC, two points behind Sporting Kansas City, with one game remaining in the regular season. Only the first-place team gets a bye when the playoffs start next month. Sunday’s tie eliminated Vancouver from the playoffs.
Vancouver’s Yordy Reyna won a penalty , and converted the goal, after Rossi’s two goals Second-half substitute Jordon Mutch’s goal in the 65th minute gave the visiting Whitecaps the 2-2 tie.
