LA Galaxy scored two late goals to snatch a draw from LAFC in the second game of the Los Angeles derby.
Much like the teams’ inaugural game back in the spring, LAFC built up a commanding lead Thursday night at Banc of California Stadium only to see the Galaxy storm with a barrage of late goals to prevent LAFC from winning.
This time, LAFC held a 2-0 led into the 82th minute thanks to first half goals from Carlos Vela and Lee Nguyen. But Galaxy goals by Romain Alessandrini and Ola Kamara in the last eight minutes prevented LAFC from earning its first victory against its new cross-town rival.
At least this time, LAFC earned a point in the draw. In the spring at StubHub Center in Carson, LAFC lead by a 3-0 score before a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-led assault saw the Galaxy score four unanswered goals, giving the Galaxy the win.
LAFC had several chances to add a winning third goal in the second half, but three shots hit off the posts.
The tie leaves LAFC in second place in the Western Conference, while LA Galaxy are in fourth. The Galaxy are now undefeated in the team’s last eight games.
The two teams will play their third and final regular season game in about four weeks.
