Klinsmann: Team USA ready for Ecuador test

(FERMIN LEAL, FUTBOL DAILY)

Team USA opened Copa America with an unimpressive 2-0 defeat to Colombia. But ever since then, Jurgen Klinsmann’s team has played inspiring football.

Now the team faces its biggest challenge since the Gold Cup game against Mexico, which sent EL Tri through to the Confederations Cup.

Team USA will play in Seattle against Ecuador Thursday with the support of a huge crowd at CenturyLink Field.

Klinsmann told ESPN his side needs to play “courages” football if it hopes to come away with a win that would send the team to the semi finals.

“I think it’s important that you stick to your beliefs and what you want to build,” Klinsmann said at Wednesday’s news conference, according to ESPN. “Obviously you adjust to certain moments in the game. If it requires we drop a second you can do that too. We can hit them with counter breaks.

“In general our back line is doing a good job so far and going eye to eye with [teams]. We tell them tomorrow, be courageous, go at them. It’s a 90 minute battle.”
